About

Social Enterprise
In 2016 Neil J. Kahoʻokele Hannahs launched Hoʻokele Strategies LLC, a consulting enterprise, to fulfill his vision of a world blessed with values-driven leaders, and enterprises that forge a thriving environment, a robust economy, and social equity.

Services fall under three main categories:

  • Leadership mentor

  • Social enterprise accelerator

  • Impact collaborator

With this higher purpose in mind, Hoʻokele Strategies provides strategic analysis, leadership counsel, values mentoring and organizational alignment support to catalyze sustainable best practice performance of leaders and enterprises.

Hannahs shares counsel and insights from 40-years of mission-driven service in support of Kamehameha Schools, including 15-years managing a portfolio of 358,000 acres of agriculture and conservation lands as director of the Land Assets Division.  As well, he shares wisdom conveyed and qualities modeled for him by extraordinary mentors…Gladys Kamakakūokalani Brandt, Nona Beamer, Fred Cachola, Jack Darvill, Papa Richard Lyman, Jr. and Myron Pinky Thompson.

I am proud of the inoa Hawai‘i given to me by my maternal grandmother. Yet, I resisted the common practice of naming my consulting enterprise after myself because it is not about me and the practice of wayfinding is an active, on-going process rather than a static state. The name needed to be a verb rather than a noun.

Our deliverable is not my prescriptions, rather the intent is to engage individuals and enterprises in settings framed by critical inquiry designed to develop and test their own strategies. That is the key to self-determination.
